I ask you: after the two scumbag criminals, their lawyer and the judge. Each move made tactical sense until towards the end. the criminals, then he extended out from there. He started his warpath with the most responsible parties, i.e. You couldn't help but root for Clyde to some degree as he wrought death and havoc upon those responsible for his family's killer's light sentence. The movie was quite inventive and clever, even if Clyde was mad with vengeance. That leaves Clyde to take matters into his own hands. DA, soon to be DA, Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx), tries the case and doesn't secure a verdict satisfactory to Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler). This atrocity happens very early in the movie and sets the tone. A middle aged man by the name of Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) witnesses his wife and daughter get brutally murdered at the hand of two criminals. As it is, Plane offers you what nearly every middling airline experience does: peanuts. After hearing about this from a teammate, a friend and a coworker (not all the same person), I decided to watch it. "Maybe this film would feel more gratifying if it focused on a few memorable characters and put them in real danger, or if it threw decorum out the window and went for some gonzo kills. But Plane would be less mind-numbing if it took itself either a little less or a lot more seriously. There's no reason to expect awards-worthy content here. "As an action movie about a plane goes, there is certainly action, and there is certainly a plane. " Plane may not take you anywhere you've never gone before, but if you're buying a ticket to a movie called Plane, odds are it will get you exactly where you want to go." The Wrap "That the Puerto Rico-shot Plane generally makes the Philippines look like a third-world hellscape whose government won't lift a finger to save people in a crisis is only somewhat softened by the film's similarly damning take on American capitalism it's a cruel world, and the only real heroes we have are a few sweaty men who are willing to go commando – or at least go Commando – when people threaten to kill them with machine guns. Plane is, in essence, the Frontier Airlines of action films: It's cut-rate to a fault, makes you endure a lot of unpleasantness on the way to its final destination, and still leaves you with the distinct feeling that you didn’t even get what you paid for." IndieWire "Even by cinema du January standards, this weak-tea survivalist thriller feels clunky. Related: Gerard Butler thought that Zack Snyder's 300 was "going to suck" Rolling Stone The movie has a likeable utilitarian quality, rooted in recognisable behaviour, that almost seems to have come out of the pre-Sly-and-Arnold world." "Jean-François Richet, the French crime-drama director ( Mesrine) turned low-down expatriate action stylist ( Blood Father), leapfrogs genres, so that none of them overstays its welcome. But the fact that it's all those things at once works to its advantage. " Plane is a plane thriller that turns into a kidnap-escape thriller that turns into a Defiant Ones buddy thriller that turns into a mission-control thriller that turns back into a plane thriller. It's competently directed and thrilling, overcoming a bare-bones script indulging in clichés and sentimentalism." Variety It's noisy, mindless, and violent but endearingly so with a helping of laughter, whether intended or not. " Plane is a solid slice of Gerard Butler action with a side of Mike Colter, playing to their strengths.
